Description

Muon dipole moments, anomalous magnetic moment (g-2) and electric dipole moment (EDM) offers unique ways to explore physics beyond the standard model via quantum loops. We are preparing for a new experiment to measure g-2 and EDM of positive muon at J-PARC. The experiment relies on high intensity proton beam provided at J-PARC and novel technologies of muon cooling and acceleration to obtain low-emittance muon beam. Such a beam allows measurement of muon spin precession in a well-controlled compact magnetic storage ring. Recently, we demonstrated acceleration of positive muons from 25 meV to 100 keV for the first time in the world. In this seminar, I would like to overview the recent progress of the experiment and key technologies behind the success of the muon acceleration.
