Neutron-antineutron oscillations can exist if there is a new interaction of nature which changes baryon number by 2 units.

We will discuss the intellectual importance of searches for this phenomenon, review previous searches using free neutron beams and underground detectors, and describe some of the concepts relevant for a new search using free neutrons.
