The new Centre for Doctoral Training for Innovation in Data Intensive Science (LIV.INNO) builds on previous postgraduate training initiatives led by the Department of Physics, in particular the highly successful centre LIV.DAT which has been hosted by the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University since 2016.
LIV.INNO will be an inclusive hub for training diverse cohorts of excellent students in data intensive science. It will provide targeted training to meet a growing skills gap in the area of data science which has seen a dramatic increase in many fields of science and engineering, due to the advancement of sensors, mobile devices, biotechnology, digital communication, and internet applications.
The kickoff meeting will discuss the aims of the centre, its ambitious R&D plans, and give existing and prospective partners a platform to present their data science capabilities and R&D interests. It will be an ideal opportunity to discuss collaboration and future joint projects. The event will also celebrate the outcomes of LIV.DAT, which is the foundation for LIV.INNO.
