Description

On 2–3 July we will hold a workshop in Liverpool on the process of muon-catalysed fusion (muCF). Muon-catalysed fusion is attracting renewed interest worldwide, with recent experimental progress and increasing investment in the field. Beyond its fundamental scientific interest, muCF could have potential applications in areas such as:
- compact sources of ~14 MeV neutrons (e.g. for isotope production, materials testing, or nuclear waste transmutation),
- development of advanced muon sources with possible impact in materials science and related technologies.

The workshop will bring together academic groups from the UK, Japan, and possibly the US. We are also exploring opportunities to engage with industrial partners and discuss potential applications and future collaborations.
The workshop will take place in Room 337 of the Physics Department.

The workshop is supported by JST Moonshot Goal 10 (Japan), the Leverhulme Trust, and the University of Liverpool (UK).
